Alex Mathew (Sept 11, 1971 – 2025) was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Read His Story

In 1999, he married Annie in Oklahoma, and together they built a loving home. In 2006, they welcomed Gabriel, and in 2009, Hope, whom he adored. A faithful servant of God, Alex was the Administrator/Finance leader at Metro Church of God, instrumental in its growth.

A mentor and coach, he poured into the younger generation, coaching Gabe and Hope’s basketball teams and guiding many. Known for his selflessness, leadership, and passion for bringing people together, he was the glue of every community he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Annie, children Gabe & Hope, parents John & Grace Mathew, brother Jose (Shaji) Mathew, and extended family in Dallas, Oklahoma, and India.

Alex lived a life of faith, love, and service. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace Alex until we are all reunited with Jesus and our loved ones.

Brother Alex’s departure is incredibly hard to believe, but his warm, contagious smile is always in my mind, welcoming us whenever we entered the church. He was a man of deep compassion and kindness, especially during my own time of loss in 2022. He made sure to check on me, offering comforting hugs and assuring me of his prayers for our family.

My boys, Abeyson and Mathew, love Alex Uncle, Annie Aunty, Gabe, and Hope dearly. Brother Alex always showed kindness, care, and concern, celebrating with us in our joys and standing with us in difficult times.

My brother, Pastor Sam Mathew from Visakhapatnam, who deeply appreciated Brother Alex’s role in sending monthly support from Metro Church, also sends his heartfelt condolences and prayers. As a family, we remain committed to lifting you all up in prayer.

With love and prayers always.

Susan Job.

Knowing Alex uncle since I was 12 years old, now I’m 30 years of age, he had incredible love and warmth, always smiling, showing love from church to everyday life, shaping the lives of those around him with his kindness and faith. One of the last interaction/memory I had is introducing my fiancé and this was his last text message to me:

“Congratulations Mathew!!!  You did good so beautiful. Praying for you guys 🙏🏼♥️”

He had a huge impact on my fiancé as well, even just meeting and speaking to him a few times, she felt the love and saw his kind character. We were truly looking forward to celebrating our wedding with him, Annie aunty, Gabe and Hope. His sudden passing is heartbreaking, but we trust that God’s plan and purpose is greater than our own. Though we deeply mourn his loss, we hold on to the hope of seeing him again. Our love, prayers, and unwavering support are with you all as family now and always.

I met Alex for the first time in 2012 when he joined what was then the Brookhaven College Bookstore. I found very quickly that Alex cared more about his team, colleagues and students than he did about the store's success. Of course, those of us in customer service know that when you care so deeply about those groups, success will follow. When Alex switched to a new role in Follett's AR Department where he could work from home, I knew, while I was losing a great manager from my stores, that he would thrive in that new position!

Every time we would meet, whether at a company event or on a store visit, he would always ask about how my family was doing. Gabe and Hope are basically the same age as my girls so we found that we would talk about school, parenting or the kid's social aspects. His love of family is always what I admire most about him.

Annie, Gabe & Hope, my sincerest condolences on Alex's untimely departure and to Alex, Godspeed my friend.

It breaks my heart to know we lost a very kind & generous person. He was a rare being that you knew would always be there when you need him. I will always remember him. May your soul rest in peace Alex.

Br. Alex was the person who I was connected for Serving Orphan Worldwide and all my mission fund. He was my good friend for sharing my personal concerns and he always encouraged me for who I was. He was very exited when he came to know about me standing as a candidate for Garland Mayor. I am going to miss his smiling face and his encouragement. Last text between us was February 6th about sending Mission funds to Church of God World Mission. I don’t know who I need to look after.

Our heart felt condolences to all grieving families and friends.

I met Alex here in Dallas as part of the Dallas/Ft. worth Bishop Cottons group. A past boarder just like me and were able to share some stories from the old times even though I graduated much earlier. Alex, it was a pleasure getting to know you and I was stunned to hear this. But I do know you were close to our Lord and Savior, and had no fear of eternity. I was just fortunate to know you.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers for Annie, Gabe, and Hope. May the Lord Bless you all.

I met Alex in Cottons. He was a boarder and I a day scholar, and the two didn't mix very well as groups. However, both Alex and I hit it off and had a mutual respect for each other. A good sportsman on and off the field. Gone too soon my friend. RiP.

My deepest condolences to Annie, Gabe, Hope and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember Alex would always be smiling in school. When I moved to Dallas and looked for Cottonians, Alex reached out and included me in the Dallas Cottonian group! Rest in Peace Alex!

Annie, Gabe and Hope. Our prayers are with you as you try and find the strength to deal with this immense loss!
